Authentic Adana Kebab Recipe - The Taste of Southern Turkey

Adana kebab is a type of kebab that originates from the city of Adana in southern Turkey. It is  made from ground lamb or beef that is mixed with red pepper flakes, cumin, and other spices. The  meat is then shaped into a long sausage-like shape and grilled over hot coals. It is typically  served on a skewer with vegetables such as tomatoes and onions, and is often eaten with bread or  rice. It's a popular dish in Turkey and is also found in many Turkish restaurants worldwide.

   Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Skewers (if grilling)
   Instructions:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb or beef with the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Divide the meat mixture into 8 portions and shape each portion into a sausage shape, about 4-5 inches long.
  3. If you are grilling the kebab, thread each sausage shape onto a skewer. If you are cooking them in a pan, you can skip this step.
  4. Preheat grill or stovetop pan to high heat. Grill or pan-fry the skewers for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until the meat is cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Serve the kebab on a platter with vegetables such as tomatoes and onions and with bread or rice.
Note: The traditional way to make Adana kebab is grilling on charcoal, it gives a great smoky   flavor to the meat.
