Authentic Irmik Helvası Recipe: How to Make Delicious Semolina Halva at Home

  Irmik helvası, also known as semolina halva, is a traditional Turkish dessert made from  semolina flour, sugar, and butter. It is a sweet treat that is typically served after a meal or as a  snack. Here is a recipe for making Irmik helvası at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup semolina flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes to make a syrup.
  3. In a separate pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Add the semolina flour and stir continuously for about 2-3 minutes or until it turns golden brown.
  5. Slowly pour the hot syrup and milk into the semolina mixture, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  6. Add vanilla extract if you desire
  7. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  8. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the chopped nuts if using.
  9. Pour the mixture into a greased pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  10. Let it cool, then cut it into squares or shape into small balls.
  11. Serve Irmik helvası and enjoy!
  Note that the recipe can be adjusted to personal taste, you can add more sugar or less, add more  butter or less, add more nuts or less.
